WHAT MAKES MY PRACTICE UNIQUE?
After years of medical training and experience as a patient myself in our health care system, I understand how to work with my patients to ensure they are informed of their options for treatment. My thoughtful and personalized approach means I’m fully committed to the health and well-being of all my patients. My patients are in charge of their health care. Together we work toward wellness in mind, body, and spirit. I have taken this path to spend more time with my family. This change will allow me time and flexibility to do the things I want, and need, to do for my family. My patients understand I have a family and they come first. Mutual respect creates a strong patient-physician relationship.
I have done a significant amount of research outside the office as I maintain my own and my family’s health and well-being. I have always looked for the least invasive and most natural option for our care. I pass along what I have learned to my patients, and I am dedicated to continuing my education. This is not a type of medicine, rather a way to practice medicine. We look at all possible treatment options and together we pick what works best for you!
PRIMARY CARE BY
A FAMILY PHYSICIAN
I am available to be your primary care physician. In primary care we are generalists. I tell patients we are trained to be the gatekeepers and know a little about a lot of things. With time we become experts in different conditions or niches in medicine. I practice primary care with an integrative approach. This means I try to minimize the number of antibiotics I prescribe and treat conservatively until we need to be more aggressive in diagnosis, which could mean more testing and medications over my first line of nutrition and lifestyle changes. As a licensed physician in NY state, I can prescribe medications, order blood work and x-ray studies plus refer to specialists, if needed. As a family physician, I take care of the very young to the elderly. The Services page has more information on my Primary Care Services.
This is a whole new way to think about approaching health concerns. Functional Medicine is the medicine of ‘Why?’ Meaning, ‘why are you having these symptoms’, not ‘here is a pill to cover up your symptoms’ or worse, having a doctor blow off your symptoms or concerns. These consults take a lot of time, both on my part and on the patient’s part. We use questionnaires, food journals, blood work and supplements (and more) to get to the root causes of a problem. As a patient seeking this type of consult, you need to be willing to change and take a deep dive into your health history and personal habits such as diet and exercise. Head over here and here to learn more about functional medicine consults.
